Too cheaply madeby LeftCoastRed

Reader Rating:

January 24, 2010: This Scrabble board looks great; sleek and sexy! But, as great as the turntable itself is, the cost cutting in other areas does cause problems.

1) The velvet bag to hold the tiles is very small, so the tiles are always falling out (we switched it out for our larger, less sexy, original brown bag from our old board).

2) The tile design is a great idea, but again, not practical! They are extremely slippery and very hard to pick up and hold on to.

3) With the tiles being so slippery, we've already had to chase one under a chair, consequently we figured it would be a good idea to buy another set of tiles just in case we lost one. Nope! Can't do that! Because this is a limited edition board, specially made for Barnes & Noble, they are not making extra tiles!

4) The post on the underside of the board, (that fits in the hole to hold the board in place as it spins), came off the first time we used the board. We super glued it back on so we doubt it will come off again.

So far we have not returned it, but are still considering that option. As I said, we really like the turntable of this board, it's the accessory pieces that are problematic.

Where In the World is The Timerby ABooksLibros

December 27, 2009: Well I Never would have expected such a beautiful game to be so cheaply manufactured. My children gave me the Signature Edition as a Christmas Present...after saving for a year to "Surprise Me" I was soooo happy until we opened the box to play! The PLASTIC peg that keeps the glass board from sliding was broken before we even took it out of the box! And WHERE is THE Timer? What in the World were you thinking....I was on my way to exchange my defective game when I read the other reviews and realized THIS IS IT! That's how they come! How disappointing! Thank goodness I got the Onyx Edition last year and had a Timer to play with!

Hasbro and Barnes & Noble You Really Blew it on This One!
