September 07, 2008: Board is cheap folding cardboard, and the spaces are too small relative to the size of the pieces. The pieces themselves aren't weighted properly, and fall over too easily -- which happens a lot because the board is so crowded. Even the box it comes in is so flimsy that it won't survive more than a half-dozen playtimes. Another tip: Only use this if you're an experienced player. I'm teaching my daughter chess, and the pieces are too similar for early players to use.

July 17, 2008: I bought this chess set last year because we are all huge Harry Potters fans...and we've been wanting to learn how to play chess. But every chess set we tried was so confusing! Even the so-called learn to play chess sets made learning how to play chess frustrating. However, the directions that came with this set were extremely straight foward and easy to understand. My 9 year old and I taught ourselves how to play, then we taught my 5 year old and then my husband. I do wish there were a Wizards Chess available with a marble board and stone pieces but for the price of this set, it's well worth it!!
