August 10, 2005: I have been waiting for the major comic book publishers to move into the 21st century and release their publications in digital format. Marvel Comics has been leading the way first with Spider-Man and now with the Fantastic Four. I originally purchased Spider-Man last year and was not overly pleased with the quality (and the fact that it was on 11 CD ROMs). However, the Fantastic Four is MUCH better quality and is on 1 DVD. It's all here from issue #1 of the first volume all the way through the 'Disassembled' storyline in volume 3 with all of the annuals included. The only drawback is that Marvel has had numerous cross-title stories over the last several decades. Until they release all of their titles, you will likely be missing some of the stories later parts (for example: look at the crossovers in their annuals during the 80's and 90's. All in all I have to say this is a plus for me. I have enjoyed reading comics for over 30 years and still collect quite a few. Unfortunately, they take up quite a bit of room in my very small house. Eventually, it would be great to pass them on to other collectors and replace them with digital versions like this. I don't care anymore about how collectible they are. I just want to read the stories and this format is just fine for me.
