June 29, 2009: This is a beautiful passport holder. Unfortunately the American passport WILL NOT fit into it. Not just the new, larger passport - the old one doesn't fit either. I bought two as gifts and had to return them. I was really disappointed.

April 20, 2009: The design of this passport holder is beautiful and the leather is buttery smooth. The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is that it is too small to fit the new smart-chip passports without bending them. It also is nearly impossible to remove the passport from the case once it's in. I wound up giving this as a gift to a friend with an old passport that has no chip.
